Do you trust AVG products? AVG damaged my operating system and caused me to lost all my files.?

╔══════════════════The Famous Five 4 - HMT ══════════════════╗ ╠Monday, 28th - MARCH -2011 ╚Greetings A few days ago I decided to install AVG Free Antivirus 2011, I used it to scan my computer and then used to computer analyzing function, it detected many problems so I decided to download AVG PC tune up to use the 24 hour trial which it recommended. I installed it and let it run, once completed I began to use my computer again, I thought it to be more slow than usual, so I logged off and loged back on again. When completely loaded, I moved the mouse and then the icons on the desktop started to disappear, then the task bar followed, my computer froze, I could not even access task manager or even press CTRL+ALT+DEL. In a state of panic I had to force shutdown my notebook and turn it back on again. Instead of doing the usual which is the Toshiba splash screen and then the windows splash screen, it went to the Toshiba splash screen and then a back screen with a grey flashing line, it was like that and wouldn't do anything else. I had to restart my computer many times when at last a screen came up saying something about my operating system being corrupt and that it can't be access. I had no choice but to reset my computer, since I bought a notebook, I didn't have my own copy of windows seven, I only got a OEM version therefore I cannot do the system repair, as I did not have a disc. So I had to reset my whole computer to factory settings, which took me for ages. But the thing that bothered me the most is that I lost all the work and other important files which I had on my hard drive. I had to install windows update and those other big files all over again. I am extremely angry with AVG and their stupid products. I have used AVG free anti virus before and it never helped my computer at all but made it slower, now their stupid Tune Up program and damaged my computer and made me lose all my important work, so much for making the computer faster, it wrecked the whole operating system. Luckily I only used the trial, if I purchased the program I probably would have made a complaint to them. Does any use AVG products or had any problems with them. GOOD DAY!!! I only tried AVG a few days ago to see if it has improved, well obviously not, it has gotten worse. I am now using Avast again. Avast is the best anti virus in the world, you can be sure that you are safe with it where ever you go and what ever you do.

AVG doesn't pick up all viruses, in fact, it sucks! The program didn't mess up your computer but it sounds like you have a virus. Try Avast. It runs in real time and has worked for me. I have it installed on 3 computers and haven't had any problems.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I have used AVG Free for several years now over three computers with no complaints. I did "catch" some malware at one stage but realise that that was not necessarily the fault of AVG. But I will be on the lookout now that I've read your sorry tale. One last word, you have to look...
