what you need for a career in IT?

Hi i worked my way up to the level 3 city and guilds advanced diploma for IT technicians got my full ecdl (european computer driving license) and i am now unsure of which route to take i tried cisco ccna at college but due to some complications i dropped out and got my money back i apply like mad for jobs even voluntary and half a year later ive still had no luck what worries me is that a few of my friends have foundation degrees and hnc,s in IT and they are working minimum wage jobs like myself. i really want a career as an IT technician but the way things went at college and the fact that my friends have good qualifications but no job in IT has me worried and has knocked my confidence completely i wouldn't even know where to get started on some more advanced qualifications or even what qualifications i need. all answers will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

You should learn programming and become a developer of apps for smartphones. There will be a great demand for that in the future, and this kind of apps are not very complex, so you don't need a college degree in Computer Sciences.

You'll need a brain, and fingers, preferably they should be connected but it's not essential.
