Are school social workers suppose to talk to u about cutting and suicidal thought?

I have a friend and one day she wrote a poem that i guess had suicidal things in it so our dean gave it to the school social worker.. Is she suppose to talk to my friend? Like i mean isn't it her job to talk to her? Whats a school social workers job like what are they suppose to do? My friend cuts herself and all the time thinks of suicide.. And the social worker knos that. So again isnt it her job to do so?

It is her job to address the concern, so yes, to talk to her. Good luck, I hope your friend gets better.

The social worker will make sure your friend is alright because she has a reason to live just like everybody else.
