How many Christians are actually aware that many of the Bible stories are hijacked straight out of other books?

Do any of you read Epic of Gilgamesh or anything about the ancient Egyptian religion? It would probably make you reconsider your stance if you're open minded...

I've actually heard some explanations for this (though they are very sad ones at best). One of them was that the Devil knew Gods plan, so he made other similar stories to make Christianity seem less valid.

Yes I know an extreme lot about the Egyptian religion, and what they believed. Egyptology is one of my many passions. Most of the "similarities" are not really similarities at all. They are just very vague coincidences. Both egypt and jewish religion is very vast, so it makes sense that there is going to be one or two... More

Excellent set of answers before me. Did you expect different? Christians cover their ears and scream "I can't hear you!!" when you post something like that.

How many uneducated non-christians realize that those of us who have actually READ and TAUGHT university courses concerning the Epic of Gilgamesh are actually aware of the fact that you are full of bologna?

If Christians were open minded to other religious things they already would have reconsidered their stance. What makes you think that they're going to crack open the Epic of Gilgamesh when barely any of them bother to cover-to-cover their own Bible?

Are you aware that a lot of religious scripture is similar? It's one of it's miracles and defies explanation how people who have never met and separated by language, geography and culture could come up with somewhat similar values and ideals of their own accord. It would be like waking up and finding your cat has... More

I investigated that claim and found it to be based on very little evidence. The oldest stories found is closest to the biblical accounts and there is enough evidence to show that it was possible for people to have recorded stories on clay tablets when Adam was still alive.
