What kind of jobs can I get with an Automotive Fundamentals diploma?

I want to become a mechanic the problem is I have no clue about cars or how to fix them so I want to go to a technical college and learn how so that I may become a mechanic. I was wondering about this Automotive Fundamentals diploma. What jobs can I get with one, does anyone that have this degree can give me pointers, and how much will I make with this career choice?

The diploma by itself will get you jack diddly squat.. (sorry to burst your bubble).. Now add that to some experience (ANY) and now you have a LITTLE leg up on the other guys (Experience is MUCH better then classroom)

In auto mechanics you need to start at the bottom. Get a job at a shop or parts store...ANY job. Even if it sweeping the floor at the shop. Then hang around and try to help the Mechanics...the more you show interest the more they will help you.

Other way.
Join the Military and get into the Machine (any machine) repair. Again not much use for Tank Repair folks outside the MIL but HEAVY mechanics (Tanks are heavy) are needed. Might try an AIR branch of a service. Aircraft certified mechanics ARE in demand.

Again... the diploma by itself gets you nothing. You NEED to have Experience with that diploma.

Sorry to burst your bubble even more, but even an entry level mechanics position these days ask for at least 2 ASE certifications and with the times the way they are, your going to be going up against mechanics that were layed off from dealerships and other places that also have experiance and will take an entry level job just to get there foot in the door and keep food on the table and a roof over there heads.

I have a 2010 Chrysler 300 we bought new. It currently has 115,600 miles. (Yea, I do a lot of driving!..) I put right at 3,000 miles on it since July 3rd. I do a pretty good job of keeping up with all maintenance and repairs. What type of maintenance should I do for a high mileage car to keep it in good running condition? and at this mileage?

I do not have any experience with car maintenance and repairs. Since buying my first used car, I have been interested in learning how to repair cars. Right now, I can't even change the oil. What type of education is needed to become a mechanic? Do colleges and universities offer diploma programs for mechanics?

I have a 2001 toyota echo. The owners manual recommends that I take it in to the dealer for regular maintenance every 7,500 miles. I can't really afford that, so I'd like to do it myself. It his the 130,000 mile mark about a week or two ago. (It's at 130,600 now.) What do I need to do to my car to keep it in good shape?
