UCSB or Northeastern University?

I need to decide on a school by the end of this week. I'm planning on going into pre-med, but that's subject to change, it most likely will. If it changes, I'd probably go into communications. I was also accepted to Emmanuel and Syracuse, and in both of these I got scholarships. I know Syracuse is great for Communications but it's in the middle of nowhere and I can't take that. I'm a city girl at heart. And yes I know Boston is a college town but it still has a city feel to me..not as much as NYC but it's still there :) I would also like a school with a large international + indian community :) The one thing I don't like as much about UCSB is that it's a HUGE party school and I've also read the area is very suburban... I've never been to SB so I don't really know. NE has better job/internship opportunities than UCSB, or am I wrong? But I know that UCSB is ranked much higher in terms of its' level of education. I also know that if I end up as a comm. major and end up wanting to go into the film industry, UCSB is better by its location. I really don't know what to do. HELP! I already have the Santa Barbara beachy chillaxed life where I live (central america) So that's not a selling point for me...and I am looking for change, I don't want the same lifestyle I already have right now. UCSB is, unfortunately, no longer in the running /: Sorry! I know these weren't in the running before but I MIGHT look at GW and Syracuse :) Although I didn't like the feel of GW's campus and Syracuse is in the boondocks which I'm not okay with :)

I'd say go with Northeastern Univeristy, it's in huge city Boston. But, if i were in your shoes I would ask myself " Can I see myself on campus, learning, having fun and just being comfortable." If you answered yes to any of these then Northeastern is the school for you.

As you already mentioned UCSB is ranked higher overall and much higher for a biology major and has the location advantage for a film major. I am pretty sure you will not have trouble finding internships at UCSB, I am not extremely familiar with the major, but a program ranked so high should open many doors in terms of... More

Northeastern is an amazing school, I've done two summer programs there and the opportunities provided by a city like Boston are unparalleled. You can have an amazing social life whilst still getting internships. I have three friends who go here and they all love it, and compared to other city schools such as GWU and BU... More
