Why do you have to have a physical disabilities to get help with transport and not with mental health?

My son is ADHD and cant take him on public transport and because I lost my job (made redundant), cant affort to pay for mot repairs but, becasue his disability is mental no help, he as a social phobia and doesnt go out alone or on public transport, but no one care why?

I don't know where you live, but here (in Dallas, TX), we have a transit system for the handicapped that does transport the mentally ill and developmentally delayed. There is no reason a person with "simple" ADHD would need help with transportation, but in both the US and in England it has been my experience that you can can transportation support when an intellectual disability prevents a person from traveling alone. In my area, the disabled transportation isn't free.. in fact, it is $8 round-trip even if you are just going 2 miles each way.... they don't treat physically disabled differently than mentally disabled... and it is still "group ride" with many people on the same bus/van and it might take 2 hours to go 10 miles because... We have limited resources and mobility allowance is given only to people who are physically unable to get around. You need to get him through his fear of being out in public.

Sorry, But I agree with Teddy Chilswomen. I have ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia and I manage to use the public transport fine WITHOUT help.
