Do you think 5 interviews is ridiculous for a new job?

First a phone interview with the recruiter, then a personal meeting with the recruiter, then a meeting with the HR department of the company on the phone, then a meeting with the Manager I'd be working with, NOW a phone meeng with the Executive VP. Isn't it a bit much!!!????!!!!! Its for a Sr. Admin position - a real estate coordinator.

wow. if you can hit up the pres, i think you're in business. unless they're all making fun of something on your face that they just 'have' to show the next guy.

I guess for that position, they want to make sure they hire the right person. Somebody who is reliable, smart, punctual, presentable and that will not leave the job easily because most likely they don't want to have to retrain a new person all over again for a while.

On first blush I would say they are looking for an applicant that can work with all the other senior members of the staff. It is, after all, a senior position.
