Do you think teachers would agree to trade their job security for a higher salary?

In the private sector there are many nice jobs. Most of them are 'fire at will' jobs where an employee could be fired at any time for little or even no reason. Teachers are paid very low in some states but often have iron clad job security. Do you think they would be willing to trade?

Most of them would not. They could use the money but a good teacher is not there for the money They are there for the children. I have spent 1/3 of my salary on school supplies and on children who did not have supplies. I saw other teachers doing the same. It is what we do.

Id be willing to have them get a higher salary if they actually taught children the way they are suppose to... In my day Teachers actually cared about their students... Today they dont... All they care about is a pay check

Teachers are Pinked Slipped every year. This job security you speak of is false. You can thank the Bush Tax Cuts for that. Or ANY tax cuts.

Teachers don't have "iron clad security". Yeah, right, that's why ony In many major cities, only one out of 1000 teachers is fired for performance-related reasons.
