What kind of base knowledge or skills does it take to succeed at motorcycle repair school?

I am terrible at Math and not much experience with mechanics but I'd like to change careers and fix motorcycles for a living.. I'm just not sure if I would be a good fit.

Be aware of the Reality of being a professional wrench though... I did the whole MMI route in 1999, got my "dream" job working in the roadracing sector straight out of school and learned that surviving on the pay made available is nearly impossible. Apart from the minimum academic qualification, what you need to be a successful mechanic is love or passion for the bikes and patience. Be happy and proud to sport all those stains and scars you get when working on bikes and sure you will do the best. Nothing wrong in being bad in math... More

well you dont need experience,your first 6 weeks at M.M.I. is theory! But your first clinic is all math as you will be learning how to use micrometers and vermeer calipers determining if motor parts are up to spec.No big deal engine math becomes second nature after a while. I would say you just need a passion for bikes... More
