Hunters,SHTFers,or End of the Worlders, do you still have stuff left over from Y2k?

I ate all of mine up. Ammo left but no gun---started with 11 firearms but had to sell or trade most all of them.
Now there was a man that started going to this little church about 5 miles away that worked for an oil related company. It was a concrete and engineering company and this man was an engineer and the same that fired me back in `97.
My life hit rock bottom and later this man that once fired me_ hired me to help build a place of refuge to endure the Y2K crisis that obviously fizzed. I had already moved into a school bus and he took a liking to it. I went with him several times to New Orleans and after a short while had obtained 7 school buses(NOT flooded buses but surplus buses that were out dated) . He gave me all the transmissions and motors out them for me to sell. My job was to weld those buses together after cutting the ends out of them. He had a track hoe dig a circle leaving a space in the middle and then after reinforcing them with angle iron poured concrete around them. One of the buses is at the edge of a 60ft drop overlooking a river. I call it beautiful.
He bought the land and his wife at the time never found out about it and she is nowhere to be found. It is full of supplies and has every thing. He is in a nursing home as I found out through the church.
I would like to live there but don`t have the money and as far as I know I am the only one that knows exactly where it is. He did not re-marry. Any Ideas? What would you do?
Horizontal; sorry, I just can`t see the humor. Btw I dont have the points to vote and this question cost me points I could not afford I thought maybe you guys were tired of airsoft or somebody trying to poke a .50bmg down an AK-47.

Joe R where have you been ? 90?f the questions asked are not hunting related _closer to a guns & ammo forum.

Don't squat, ask him for permission, he will almost certainly give you permission as a caretaker of the place, and it provides you all sorts of legal protections.

Sometimes I go read the questions in the Psychology section and in some perverse way it makes me feel good to know that I'm not that screwed up. Your fascinating story has had the same effect. Thanks.

As for Y2K, I think I have a 486 based laptop in a closet that the Air Force certified as Y2K compliant. That's my only souvenir.

I rotate stocks, been doing it long before Y2K.

A lot of people were dupped by the Y2K speculation but now that it`s gone will not admit it. I still have a few things as far as guns, ammo, and a few things that I would not have bought ordinarily. I bought a lot of bottled water and 3 generators only to have people wanting to borrow them when Katrina hit 5 years later. I used the last of that 100 gallon tank of gas that i bought about three years when it skyrocketed.
I still have that cheap gold also that I would not have bought otherwise.
What would I do if I were you? Well, since I read you other question that you are in Texas I should assume that this place is in Louisiana somewhere. So, I would visit the Parish that the property is in and find out who has been paying taxes on it and if the taxes have been paid to date.
I would also visit the person in the nursing home and just maybe that you are truly the only one that knows where that place is. I do not know about Louisiana`s medicaid recovery laws so just maybe he gave it to you some years ago. If that person worked for the company that I think....He wont be on Medicaid.

I remember buying a big case of MREs shortly before. I already had guns and ammo.

I never did eat the MREs. Through them out around 2005.

This reply sent from a Dell 386 based computer made in about 1995, Y2k was not even considered at the time but it still works fine.

Other Career Questions

Firstly, please note that this question is clearly not aimed at the anti-hunting, anti-gun lobby, so please don't answer with such comments. I am not a hunter myself but I am very interested in the history of hunting and the activity itself. I would be very grateful if anybody could tell me, in terms a layman could understand, how hunting is not purely a selfish pass-time but also benefits the natural environment and local communities? Thanks.
