Could not agree with you more! SOME OF THE CURRENT RULES SUCK! The push in the back is awarded too softly, and back in the 70's footy was more enjoyable to watch as it was rough and tough!

They also train harder and longer than they did in the old days, plus the game is faster which is why there are more injuries. I think it was Sam Newman who said a 300 gamer today is the equivalent of 400 games back then... More

I thought they burnt it every Monday morning and replaced the rules with new ones! The AFL has to look at the interpretation of the holding the man/ holding the ball rule ? Nowadays you can take on all the tacklers be swung 360 degrees and it is still not holding the ball. ( just a ball-up on most occassions )Yet someone can grab you blind-sided from behind, and it is an automatic free ! What a load... More
