My job wants to make me a shift supervisor without a pay increase?

Is that legal? I want to tell them that if I don't get a pay increase, I'm not gonna take the supervisor position.

Legal for the offer. Legal for you to say I DON'T THINK SO. I wouldn't either because being a supervisor brings more headachs than a raise is worth anyway unless you're talking 25% or better. Even then I would check out ALL the responsibilities connected to the job before taking it.

Of course it's legal. You don't have to take it. But think if the other benefits. It's going to look fabulous on your resume

its not illegal to not pay you more.. its private employment? they acn do whatever they want.. legally they can even LOWER your pay with a few days notice.

sure it's legal. this has been a trend lately, getting a promotion without a pay increase.

Sure it's legal, although it's common that a promotion would include a raise. You might ask them if there would be a raise later for the additional responsibilities after you prove yourself. But that wouldn't be guaranteed.
