Can you do anything about workplace bullying and slander?
I am a branch Warehouse Manager in a national company and have been there for 6 months. Recently our State Sales Manager and another member of the sales staff went to an interstate sales conference which senior company managers attended. During this conference these staff members were quick to speak to senior managers trying to highlight the fact that I was not fit to do the job by telling outright lies. We do not have senior management within our branch and there is only myself and my staff and the sales manager and his staff. The sales staff have made it clear that they do not like me and have apparently done this to other managers there in the past. On top of the other lies they have told they went to the extreme measures of telling senior management that I am planning to import my own goods and go in direct competition with them. Since then I have made a formal complaint. The sales staff have been asked to substantiate and justify their comments and have been unable to come up with any factual evidence to support their claims. I feel like I have had to defend myself when I have done absolutely nothing wrong. As you can imagine in knowing this and having to defend myself I am very stressed having to front up and work with people who have done this to me. I am at the point where I am taking this stress home to my young family and it is affecting my sleep. I also dread going to work as I feel they are always waiting for me to slip up some how. I see this as workplace bullying and I was wondering what other people think of this situation.I also feel like these comments have been defamatory and are were made only to have me fired and take my livelihood away. I have young children and need this job so leaving is not an option and I do not feel like I should have to. Does anyone know if I have a legal leg to stand on in regards to the slader which they can not back up with any evidence at all. I am also potentially looking to get medicated to handle the stress and sleep better. I don't want to take stress leave as I know the stigma that is related with that but I feel uncomfortable working there. Any advice people could give me would be appreciated.

It is difficult to prove anything when there are a number of people against your word. If these people have been making allegations about you which amount to slander, then you should consider seeking legal advice, and at least have an opportunity to see where you stand... More

You reported it, and they were found to be full of crap. That's the bets you can do. Stop being stressed, you already solved the problem.
