How do I maintain my baitcaster?

I got a carbonlite rod and reel combo from bass pro shop. The reel is a baitcaster and I only got it recently. I have been using it every weekend and sometimes during the week for about a month. When and how often should I add grease or oil?

About every 6 months is when you should give it a good cleaning and lube job, and not to mention fresh line. If you've been using it for a month, you're still good to go. Since your reel is still fairly new, you might even be able to go an extra 2 or maybe even 3 months before you need to run maintenance on it.

It should have come with directions. If you keep it wiped clean and don't get it wet, you should service it at the end of every season and then put a baggy over it to keep the dust out.
