Without the Bible, would atheists still dislike theists?

If atheists had no Bible or other holy book to wrangle over, if they couldn't talk about Noah's Ark or Adam and Eve, or quote Bible verses, would this animosity between them and the theists come to a screeching halt? Do you think that this is the root of everything in the battle we see here, just scripture? Are atheists fighting to save their children from after-school prayer groups, really? Are their lives really disrupted by Christians on a daily basis? Please give your thoughts.

It is NOT just about "prayer-groups". (And for the record, we have no problem with after-school prayer groups. We have no problem with student-lead IN school prayer groups if they wish to get together and do so. What we have a problem with is MANDATORY prayer for students in public schools.) Those are the least of... More

Animosity shouldn't exist anyway, I've never seen anger, hatred, or anything of the sort actually help any situation. Have you ever seen a group of protesters at any event actually turn anyone? Or someone change their entire thought process because someone yelled at them?

no one can prove their god is real. no one can prove there religion is the 'true' religion. religion preys on sad, lonely people so they lock onto that nonsense so they feel like they're apart of something. these ideologies that people follow because some bs was written five thousand years ago is just dumb.

It is not theists I hate or even dislike, amongst my friends I count many; it is those who want to force all to their distorted and delusional thinking that I hate. ...And no, it is the destruction of reason not the implement used that I cannot abide.

Without Bible or Quran, then yes there wouldn't be this animosity of Christians vs. Atheist, Atheist vs. Muslims, and Christians vs. Muslims, Jews vs. everyone else.

Yes. This one would. They don't need their scriptures to be full of hate and judgement for everybody else.

Would those theists still be trying to get their religion taught in my kids school and imposed upon me through my government? Then yes, I would still oppose their attempts to turn my country into a christian theocracy.

I only get angry with theists when they try to get their myths taught in schools as science or make laws based on it all must follow. Whether that comes from their bible or not doesn't matter.

Well, if Fundementalist Theists continued persecuting non-believers (i.e. denyinggays the right to marry, Spanish Inquisitions), I'd still battle Fundemental religion.

I have no problem with the Bible whatsoever. What I have a problem with is those who use it to legislate laws based solely on their belief.

Who said that I disliked theists? I don't. I married one and I love many theists. Please don't generalize, it just makes you look ignorant, which I am sure you don't intend to be.

Without the Bible you are only removing from the issue the christians, the jews (remember the Old Teastament is part of the Bible), and the sects that have developed out of christianity. Atheists will still dislike muslims witrh their Koran, and still will dislike all other theists that believe in other holy books.

We don't like the beliefs, which have dire political and environmental consequences. The holders of the beliefs are merely hosts for the memes of war and privation , disease and suffering they bring to the world.
