What is the best medium sized backpack for a great backpacking trip up the mountains?

I'm thinking of going backpacking up into a mountain, but the only problem is, is that I don't have a backpack for it. So for all of you backpackers, what is by-far THE best backpack for a trip up into that mountains?

I use a Osprey Aether back most of the time. It is very comfortable, great suspension, handles loads very well and very adjustable. The come in 60, 70 and 85 liter sizes. Best is an opinion that there are many of. Read the reviews of the best sellers out there and compare, compare and compare. REI is one great resource with reviews of many of the products they sell. In my opinion a best would be any of these three Gregory, Osprey, North face... More

this sounds like you are a new hiker and so before you go off on a quest for "the best backpack" (which can cost you 300-800 bucks) ... you might consider renting a backpack from REI or borrowing one from a friend and see if yuo like hiking first... More
