Florida: How can a household qualify for foodstamps?

i am on permanent disability and have a fixed income monthly. My wife has two jobs and attends college part time. We still sometimes struggle to meet our needs such as paying for gas, and its really hard for us at times to go buy groceries. Our rent is $950 a month, utilities and other expenses equal out to about an additional $300 (electric, cable, water..) Cars and insurance for the both total to about $800 a month. Together we are pulling in $2,500. Is there any way we can qualify for food stamps, or any sort of assitance?? thanks!

Mention that you are an illegal alien. Works here in CA. The governor just approved college loans for illegals too, but vetoed a bill to help our senior citizen centers.

Why do you both need cars if you don't work? Drop the extra car and consider a bus pass. Depending on the state they will look at both incomes (SSI is considered an income) and situations. After all, if she is paying for school, she can afford food. You may want to consider a cheaper apartment or one closer to a bus... More

Not a chance. Your income is way above the limit for a family of 2. Sounds like you need to do some downsizing.
