Environmental engineer vs. Environmental scientist?

What's the difference between the two? What would they do out in the field? Which one would be the one who researches and builds things like solar panels, wind turbines, etc? Or would that be a different job? If so, which one? Thanks! Which job(s) research alternative/renewable energy?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics website ( gives descriptions of about any type of carrer you might want to know about. Just search "Environmental Engineer" or "Environmental Scientist". And no green energy doesn't really fall under environmental engineering.

if you want to design solar panels and wind turbines then become a mechanical engineer.

Environmental scientist does the research work to know the causes of environmental degradation. He recommends methods to prevent environmental degradation and to sustain a healthy environment. Environmental engineer applies/implements the techniques suggested by the environmental scientist. The tasks may overlap also... More
