If Govt redistributed wealth in US exactly equal to all, WHY would this be bad?

People would still work and do what they do now, but not for a paycheck, for the greater good of their brothers and sisters.

Then ALLLLLLLLL this money that Corporations make and investment bankers make and entreprenuers make...... would be used for the greater good of all humanity.....

this would excite investment bankers and heads of corporations to be more productive than ever because they will feel good ALLLL that earned money will go towards the benefit of all society....and then the economy will go up very high
Also I like the idea of land sharing.....

If all the land you own and I own and all the farmland becomes shared common property of everybody, then there would be a Great Leap Forward in America as people would come together for the common good and grow all kinds of foods and collectively build their lands as one and share all houses together

The Soviet Union, North Korea, & Cuba was or still is under this concept. In land sharing nobody takes care of the land & the rightful owner looses part of his/her land to squatters or land poacher that gained favor from the government to divi up the land in favor of his/her family, relatives or clan much like how indian reservations operate because land titles are not honored or non existent.

Equal Opportunity means for everyone, Big or Small, Rich or Poor to start at the starting line, not for one or some to have a 1/4 course head start subsidies, welfare, credits, or waivers, because your not privilege or you have connections. Governance must not curry favor to some & should keep everyone honest by crushing corruption, grand theft of blue/white collar & inside jobs, smuggling/trafficking & heinous crimes in order for fairness to flourish on a level playing field of opportunity.

In a capitalist system there is that opportunity to succeed honestly. An added bonus is that you earned it. The Amish an exception don't even look to get as rich as George Soros, but their principles & virtues (similar to "nintai & haji") towards hard work & self reliance somehow makes their community prosper, spiritually rich & free.
People pursue their interest & try to be successful at it. If they fail then they try other interest. Some become jack of all trade to remain self reliant. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Cisco founders & others started out in the Garage. They came up with a product that the public would like to have, no different from musicians who sells their talent to the public. They expanded & provided qualified others with jobs, including businesses they supplied & contracted for logistic, energy &, advertising purposes. Using money in the exchange of products, services, or entertainment is how the public choose freely & show their appreciation to what others produce & provide, respecting property by exchanging property or money. Their self interest is to provide for themselves & their family through success that they can pass down to their children that they earned for their children or whom ever they choose, not automatically the public or government.
If you don't work you don't eat, but those who pity you won't let you starve but will not spoil you towards being defendant & loose their pity specially if your a swindler & a criminal. A governing body's role first & foremost is to protect its Sovereign from foreign or domestic threats to protect its way of life from abruptly changing its costumes, language, rights, prestige & rule of law into a foreign sovereign's will, domineering or not. A sovereign concern is for the prosperity of its self reliance through its citizens self reliance/economic freedom, defend that self reliance/economic freedom with a strong military/law enforcement, to provide a safe environment for its law abiding citizen & business to live & exist in, and respecting each others property through commerce & trade using currency or property in return.

In a communist system, only the dictator in chief or is among his/her family, clan or inner circle are privilege & wealthy. Why do you think there is no independently or family run Orange County Choppers, restaurant/Business, even franchise or corporation in a communist system?
Since everything is Centralized, micromanage, & state owned in a communist country, everything is pretty much rationed, benefits, provisions, & well being. Punishment is severe for disobedience & violations. Titles to property are not honored or non existent that people simply accept what is available provided by the government.
If you don't work you will do work assigned or ordered by force no matter how unappealing or low class it is. It is similar to being in the military for which you are government property & serve anyway possible. In the technology, mechanical, & maintenance field, you will have half of 1/3 of the work force have entitlement/superiority attitudes towards their assigned occupation or towards Casoids, Oreintals, Egros or Other co-workers. The other half of the 1/3 are simply sloths, disappears, uncaring, incapable of accomplishing the task (trained) & pays no attention to detail or quality. The other 2/3 half will perform their task but will take their time doing it. The other half of the 2/3 which is 1/3 will go above & beyond their call of duty either because they couldn't help it or the management just keep depending on them too much in which they get burned in the end. To avoid work the sloths & milkers will kiss, lick, & grease behinds & become sidekicks of foreman, sups or management. Having Connections can be prestigious or beneficial for a licker/greaser.

For starters, you probably wouldn't have that computer you're using, the internet wouldn't be available and all of the little things you take for granted wouldn't exist. You would be standing in a long line to get poor quality shoes that don't fit or toilet paper.

Fortunately for you, capitalism provides the incentive that makes citizens want to achieve. Without that incentive, why work so hard?

Why would you work hard if you are going to get the same amount as someone who didn't work at all?

A professor in college recently did a study to prove what would happen with this philosophy of share the wealth.
He gave a test and looked at the grades. Those who studied hard received A's and there were some who flunked. He announced that he was going to give everyone the average grade of a C. He said he would average the grades on the next two tests and give everyone the same grade. The next test, those who studied hard on the first test didn't study as much on the second test and the average grade was a D. For the third test, the average grade was an F.

Again, do you really want to work hard if you know that those who don't work will get the same as you?

Why should I bust my h**p to provide for my family and see the product of that hard work go to some lazy bum, who won't turn his hand to anything but the remote and a beer bottle. Or, some woman who has a kid every other year by a different man.

When you figure out a way to make everyone do their fair share of the work from conception to actuality, then we'll talk.
Answered By: Lady Snowblossom - 8/13/2011
No, you would have people that would not work and would still get their share, others would see that and stop working and sooner or later everyone would stop working because they are tired of supporting the ones that wont work.

Incentives. Or, more specifically, lack of incentives.

It is probably the case that most people will do as little work as they can reasonably get away with while still meeting their personal goals. If you will not get any more money by working harder, or by being smarter, or by doing the nasty jobs instead of the fun ones, or so on, then a lot of people will simply do as little as they can get away with. Or nothing.

Think about it. If you'd get the same amount of money whether you worked 80-hour weeks, worked 40-hour weeks, worked 10-hour weeks, or sat at home and ate cheesecake, what would you do?

And if there was no private ownership of land, there would be no real incentive to *take care* of the land. Look up the tragedy of the commons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragedy_of_the_commons

Now, if only we could brainwash the entire world population to think like you, our problems would be solved.
But, we would also need to alter our primitive DNA, which compels us as individuals to hoard in preparation for a "rainy day", which is inherit to self survival AND survival of our species.

If it wasn't done voluntarily, it would be immoral, and since using government to do it means it would be done by force - the law - that means it would be immoral.

Also, it wouldn't work.

Also, it would make the situation worse than the original problem it is trying to solve.

Also, other people aren't your property.

Also, other people have a right to be free of your interference in their lives.

Communism has never worked and will never work.

It can only work if you control everybody's mind to think exactly the same.

True Communism is not control of goods, services and money - it is total mind control.

You are 100 per cent wrong, look at the ones not working now how many are sitting on their butts now not even trying to find any work of any kind, who would have the money to build the corporations or buy equipment, they would do just like they are doing ow buying foreign made products made by China or asian countries, they could have prevented this whole recession by stopping the unions from being so greedy ,living within their income, preventing the banks from high interests rates, and making our government stay out of war with Iraq the 2nd time. and putting the right people in office.

One problem my friend,

Sharing is not an American value. 5 different people will answer your question by calling you an idiot and saying "well no one would want to succeed if they know they're only going to get as much as the other guy that does half as good as he does" and someone will call you a communist. I don't think your an idiot or a communist, your just a little naive and unaware of how the world really works. America is an individualistic culture, everything is about the 'self'. You talk, think, walk, eat, and breath for yourself and no one else. You look out for your self and no one else. Everyone in America is expected to produce for themselves because that's American culture. Because of this socialism could never work here in America. Americans are driven to succeed only by the promise of a reward. They want the opportunity to be richer, healthier, and more intelligent (or at least think they are smarter) than their neighbor. Socialism would completely eliminate this, because everyone would be equal. People don't feel socialism is bad because "some lazy fool will make the same amount of money as me if I work twice as hard" because that's not really socialism. Everyone would have to work at the same level in order to keep the country going. What people really mean when they say that is this "socialism would make it impossible for me to have more than what I absolutely need; therefore I wouldn't be "better" than anybody else and that s*******s!"

Great Leap Forward? Where and when did you read Mao's Little Red Book? Since when did the ideology of Karl Marx (a lazy sloth) intrude into your mind. Then take root? This nation has one of it's building blocks set firmly. The Right of property.

You have to ask yourself...Would you work at your assigned job, career, chore, etc? Happily? If you knew for a fact you only receive in kind what a lay about, no ambition, surfer type dude receives. He gets and is rationed exactly what you get? He lays on a beach blanket? While you roast in the sun raking a gravel road? He eats, sleeps, dresses and lives as well/poorly as you?

You have a misconception of property and the common good of mankind. My suggested reading to you is Outline of History (H.G. Wells) and Of Democracy in America, (Alexis de Tocqueville) This nation was and still is unique in it's founding and path. Please study what it actually means? Then kindly drop the European originated Communist/Socialist ideology? Our nation is unique in the modern age as one created as a society of the willing. Not the norm of a society of the ruled. America's ideals should win the future. Not the one you advocate.

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!
