China still has elements of communism as the party is still in power & opened the door halfway for entrepreneurship capitalism. China may someday transition to a Monarchy with Confucius, Buddhist, or Taoist ideals, but not very soon. Communism did helped China to re-organized & re-established their own industries... More

The government is doing well, not the people! They can haul you off in the middle of the night and execute you, or put in prison for life, just for speaking out against the government. They have no rights there.

Yes,but it seem like they're slowly flowing towards capitalism. The government has benefited a lot from communism and Not actually the People.I doubt communism will last in China, eventually it will collapse as it did with the soviet union.

No. They stopped being communist after Mao died. If they were really communist no one would own private property.

China is only communist in name. In function it is more like fascism. They are doing well because they have adjusted their currency so that their exports and labor are more affordable than from other countries, leading to rapid industrialization as other countries ship their industries to China.

They're moving away from it.

They're communist...ish Basically their government controls the economy, i would say they're more socialist than communist, so during a recession like this one they're able to react and adapt a lot quicker than we are. But unfortunately, they generally do so at the cost of their workforce... who work for pennies

The fact that the yuan exists is proof that they aren't communist. Abolishing capital and wage labor is the foundation of Communism.

China doing well? that's not even funny, china is on the brink, worse than we are.

They have a powerful government that manipulates the country. Even if they may not practice communism completely, it helps China in keeping order. I am sure they hate the word capitalism as much as we hate the word socialism.

I dunno about doing "well" but certainly better than before. They're in the process of building infustructure so if this recovery process dies down at least they'll have something to show for it.

China is a conservative capitalist country. China's economy is built on exploitation of their own poor and a handful of rich reap the rewards. They do not deserve the title of Communist. The scheme will eventually fall. If Walmart shut down, China would collapse the next day.

Well communism according to marx would be a stateless society from each according to his ability, to each according to his need. China has never been that - but China was marxist because according to marx, there would need to be a transition to get to communism - with the proletariat taking over the state, to... More
