why is my dad so cheap?
I live in a small town in asia, where there's nothing to see, nothing to buy, and nothing to do. last week i went to Singapore, i saw lots of things that they don't even sell in the country i live in(even in our capital city) i wanted to buy a pair of Levi's jeans for about 40 USD in ION ORCHARD, but my dad looked at the price tag and laughed and said that i was crazy, he said that it was terribly overpriced. and said that I have to be Bill Gate's son to be able to buy them. WTF? he doesn't know anything about Levi's, 40USD overpriced? NONSENSE! maybe it is overpriced in 1867(considering USA bought Alaska for $7.2 million ) i wanted to use my own money(btw im 17 yrs old) but he wouldn't let me! i saw lots of things like ZARA, H&M, but he chased me out of the store after 30 seconds, saying that they were overpriced. not only me, he would't let my mom get anything either. my mom and i had to sneak out of the hotel while my dad was taking a nap to get some chocolates. pathetic huh? Then he scolded me for being too materialistic WHAT IS WRONG WITH GETTING SOMETHING NICE TO WEAR ON A TRIP ? $H*T, NOW I'M BAK TO THIS ******* LITTLE TOWN, I HARDLY GOT ANYTHING!! SO DID MY MOM. what really pisses me off is that he went into GNC and spent 400 USD for vitamins. it's not like he's sick! he recently had a checkup and it came out perfectly fine! My point is that although we are'nt as rich as bill gates and steve jobbs, but we ain't poor either, my parents both have nice jobs, but he acted as if we were so poor! he didn'e grow up POOR my grandpa had $$$$$$$ NAH, my mom is working too, but he won't let her buy things as well

Some parents—like mine—were raised up in a poor family and it bothers them to spend money even when they have a lot. However, you said he didn't grow up poor and he spent $400 on supplements... I think he wants to save the money for himself and just spend it on the things he wants. I would just tell myself "F*** it, I'... More

Your grandpa had money, his money, he worked for it, he earned it. Get a job and then you can buy what you want and you can see and appreciate the time and effort your parents put in to earn THEIR MONEY that helps support you. You're too old to be acting like a 3 year old, better grow up and act your age.

you're complaining about what money you can buy to pacify your happiness? You know what?? I am on low income, and there are nice things I'd like to have. Due to bad economy here in USA, many people are cutting corners. Even the grocery store I shop at close to home has less customers buying food there because it is too... More
