Should the government guarantee a job for everyone under 65 who is able to work?
This would obviously reduce the unemployment rate. It would stimulate the economy. The jobs would be minimum wage so as not to draw people away from private sector employment.

Why not they already guarantee a job for those who do not work at any age. Obviously some people are stupid enough to take me seriously, and are more than likely all Government workers.

No, that would be communism. Research the USSR and other Eastern Bloc countries and see how well that concept worked out. I have a hint for you...most of those countries no longer exist.

No, that is not their job. What they need to do is see that the job market is viable, we have a positive business environment and support business to expand. If you think government has to guarantee a job, move to Cuba, Russia or Red China. Your talking Communism when you do that. Semper Fi

It has been tried. It is a nice idea, but there are certain dis-economies of scale and people just don't like it. The German approach of having a robust unemployment compensation, retraining benefits, and a state employment agency which all private employers must use, seems to work better.

Will China loan us enough money for that?

How would taking all of the money out the economy to pay all the salaries and benefits stimulate the economy? Each $ of spending power taken away in taxes is worth a lot less by the time it gets paid out to a govt employee or beneficiary.

Why do that when we could just pass more Tax Cuts? I mean, sooner or later Tax Cuts are going to work.
