Can I work from home as a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist?

After being trained and certified, is it possible to work from home full-time as a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist? I read that I'd have to work as an office employee for 4-5 years, at least, for the same company before they would allow someone to work from home part-time or full-time. Is this true? Also, where can I find such jobs. Thanks.

Check out the job websites for entry level positions. I don't think they will trust you enough to work from home without proving yourself first. As a side note, be sure to get your CPC certification as you will make about $5k more per year. Here is an exam prep course to get you started http://www.picz.us/cpcexamprep

That would probably be an extremely rare to non-existent possibility, because of the HIPAA laws regarding patient confidentiality, which, if you're working from home, the doctors/organizations could not guarantee.

You are not going to find a remote home coding position without any experience. It's hard enough just getting in a regular coding position without experience. So you will have to work on site somewhere before you can code from home.
