Are women who remain single and without children generally happier than married women with children?

I know it is a huge generalisation but I'd like some opinions please. Surveys often indicate that the happiest people are married men and single women. For example, most divorces are initiated by women. Also, single women can now have a very satisfying single life, good career, travel and lots of friends plus independence from being pulled in all directions (not juggling children/job/husband).

No single women without children are not happier. There is more to life then a job and independence. There was an article on MSN a few days ago that said, married men and women are happier and live longer then single men and women. Get ur facts straight. . .

I am a happily divorced woman (and single now). I am happier than I ever was when I was married. Weird, huh? And no kids, either. Although I do love children.

Depends on the woman. I would say if a single woman wanted a husband and children, she wouldn't be happy being single. If a married mother didn't like being married and having children, she'd probably desire a single lifestyle... More

I'm happy for the first time in my life and I'm married with a daughter. I hated being single. Never could stand it. It's different for everyone.

i honestly think it depends on the person, i know some people who would really love to get married and would make wonderful parents. i, on the other hand, want to live independently, have a very focused career, travel then perhaps buy a few reptiles (gecko's) after that... More

the happiest people are married men Because many cheat and get it all , most divorces are initiated by women. Take a guess why. Females figure out men need them but they don;t need men to verify who they are. There is a lot more that comes into play but no one wants to read a book, at least not here.

Well it depends on what you did in life. Some women get pregnant and oops they are instant Mommies and nothing is better in life then the love of your children. I would give up anything except my son who is and always will be the love of my life. I have friends who are 30-40 years old and they are happy being single... More

Really good question, I'm married with one child, I could have had more but by choice I only wanted one. As for being married, I chose not to marry until I was 29, I really did enjoy being single, working on my work, college, Uni etc. I was actually quite happy but I speak for myself and my many friends... We were all... More
