What steps do i need to take to become a professional author?

I'm 14 years old and I am really passionate about becoming an author. What steps do I need to take from here?

1) write a book 2) edit it 3) get an agent 4) have said agent send it to different publishing companies 5) have said companies reject you 6) re-edit it 7) have said agent send it to different publishing companies 8) you either get rejected again and start processes 4-6 or move onto 9 9) get it published

General rule of thumb is that you need to have written about a million words of fiction before you get to a pro level. Write lots and read lots. There aren't really any other requirements, apart from the (hopefully) obvious one of looking at what you've written and figuring out what you could do better next time.
