How to correct a horse in this situation?
I pretty much take care of my grams 2 horses and my dad clips all their hooves and files them. The thing is my grams one horse always wants to put her hooves down. When she does my dad smacks her. I hate when he does this because the look on her face i think it just teaches her not to trust us? How should we correct her when she does this?

Figure out if she puts her hoof down because of pain, or because she wants to be bratty. Reward her when she stands properly, and yank on her leadrope/smack her on the butt when she tries to stamp it down. Distract her with a toy, if she likes to play with lickits or something.
