How to get a job as a makeup artist without cosmetology school?

For a long time I've been wanting to get a job as a makeup artist, primarily working for a cosmetic company (such as Smashbox, NARS, Too Faced, or other higher end cosmetics) because I'm passionate about makeup and I feel confident with applying it on others. But I have NO talent whatsoever with hair, I tried to go to cosmetology school for makeup skills but I couldn't handle doing hair. So how far could I get in the makeup industry without a cosmetology license?

You can start by applying at Sephora. They will send you to a 2 week school, and build up your resume. Apply for a mac counter, make a portfolio.

Honestly I think you;d just have to get lucky. I am extremely passionate about makeup as well but not so crazy on cutting hair. I really only like to do color.
