What Should I Major in at College?

I'm currently enrolled at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), and I'm undecided with what exactly I should major in. My situation that is causing me to have such a difficult time deciding, is that there are things that I want my career to do for me, and there are things I want to do alongside my career. I am very interested in music, mainly playing and writing. I play guitar and practice it frequently, and have also played in several bands in high school and enjoyed them all very much, with me being the main songwriter as well as frontman with lead guitar and vocals. However, I'm worried about going into the music field because 1) It doesn't seem reliable, especially being in a band, and 2) Even IF I managed to be in a successful band, that would involve touring, moving around a lot, etc., which would be nice but I want a family when I grow up. I'd like a stable job without too many hours and has a good salary. Maybe around $40-60,000 a year if not more. This I can support a wife, preferrably one but maybe two children, and have time for them as well as my own music. If it helps, I currently am considering (only consdering) minoring music and have two music classes right now (one is a general ed.) along with some general ed. classes and a French class. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Get a degree in music education, and a teaching certificate. Take a day job as a music teacher in some school system, and do your side interests after school and during the summer.
