I hate college.........?
So I just started college full time. I've wanted to go to this school since I was a sophomore, but now that I'm actually here I'm starting to hate it...I mean, the campus is beautiful, and my teachers don't seem that bad, but I have no friends and I'm a commuter. I'm very antisocial with new people except adults and people I work with. I work a full time job and I am about to turn 18, but now I just don't feel like college is right for me. Everyone expects me to go to college, as I'm very smart, but it's uncomfortable. I love learning but not in a classroom setting. I do already have 15 credits from CLEP tests, and I was thinking about taking more, and also DSSTs and then transferring them to Excelsior or TESC in order to graduate. Another problem is I don't like group work, and already I have about like 10 group projects listed on my syllabi. My school is also being very weird and making these event things mandatory to go to, as well as a service learning kick-off day, none of which I can attend because they are outside of class time but still count towards my classes. When I'm not in class, I'm working. I need at least 2 weeks to request off but my school gives me like 2 days notice. I'm frustrated already and it's barely the first week. What should I do? @Jesse Please. I've been working since I was 15, and I've been full time since I was a junior in high school. I pay for my damn education myself and don't mooch of my parents like most other people. I pay my phone bill, gym bill, car payments, insurance, etc. I am not ungrateful. I work hard but there's only so much you can take. Not to mention, I am under a lot of stress because I do also have about 5 different medical conditions, one of which is a nervous system pain disease.

* friends -- are you going to college to learn things or to meet people? If it's just to meet people then there are much cheaper and less stressful ways. If it's to learn things, friends don't enter that equation. Given time, you'll likely make some friends - but they shouldn't be a focus of why you're there at all... More
