Is a bobber style motorcycle good for a beginner?

I really like the style, although I'm sure it comes to whats most comfortable, are they alright for a beginner bike? Or is a more traditional style recommended? I have lots of experience road biking so the sort of hunched style is something I wouldn't mind. Thanks!

Look at the suspension. if it has been changed, walk away it is all sheet metal then go for it. Some bobbers are "home-made" and have terrible suspension, such as rigid frames. They're a challenge, and not for beginners.

all true bob jobs and choppers are home made and done by the owner. They are fine as first bike and in my opinion the best first bike since you are the builder. as a matter of fact if you didn't build it and don't know how to wrench on it you shouldn't have it!

Most "bobbers" start out as factory engineered, balanced, well tuned motorcycles before being deconstructed and destroyed by back yard mechanics that think they can do better than the engineers that designed it in the first place. Don't buy someone else's mistakes.

They would be better than a "chopper" style, as they tend to retain the stock neck rake.
