Is a software developer the same as a software engineer?

I want to know what the difference is. I want to get a job with someone like Activision, Ubisoft, or EA to help make video games. Who helps make them, software developer or software engineer, or are they the same.

I'm sure that there are probably some differences in the definitions of both titles but from my experience in the working world, they are interchangeable.

Well, I think they are +/- the same, but i think the engineer makes the program itself, and the developer makes the plan Hope this was useful, John.

I think there are three classifications - Developers can write code, but are terrible designers Software engineers can design code, and probably are good at coding Computer scientists understand how compilers and the like produce the executables from the developer's codes

With video game companies, your title will be "code monkey" and you will work 60+ hours a week for crappy pay.
