I have a important career decision to be made in another 15 days. Can anyone help me on this?

Hi all, I have a important career decision to be made in another 15 days. Can anyone help me on this? I am working in a software company which is into data warehousing, it is a kind of startup company. This company is where I started my career and here they focus on almost all the available tools in the data warehousing field. I got the entire data warehouising basics here during my training. I specialize in MicroStrategy a data warehousing reporting tool now. warehousing warehousing thing is that when I was 4 months experienced by then I had developer experience in a ETL project and after that for the next two months I was in bench since there was no project at that time. I learned MicroStrategy and got comfortable on it when I was in bench. When I had 6 months of experience I got an oppourunity to work in the client place, but it was for data warehouse testing which required (ETL and Reporting) testing. Now I am almost going to complete one year in the client place ie., just 2 more months left in the client place. And I have a good reputation of my work in the client place. The problem that I face now is that the people in the client place are pushing me to join as a permanent employee in the the client place. Since there is only 2 more months left as a safety measure they just want me to join the client place, else let them know I am not intrested so that they could hire a guy in place of me. But the thing is that I have put a lot of efforts to learn MicroStrategy well and I am confident to work in a development project and also one more thing is that I have good understanding over the development work thats going in the client place. So what I am looking now is a development opportunity. You can now say me an option to go back to my old company, but the situation now is that almost 70% of the resources are in bench without any project, and if I go back to my old company I would be in bench for sure. Also I spoke to the sales head and he told that there aren't any promising projects coming up in the near future. If I accept the offer in the client place I would be stamped as a QA and from there it would be very difficult to move to development, if I go back to my comapany I would be put in bench and also the other risk is that I may be also terminated from service during in bench due to lack of projects. Other constraint I have is that when the contract ends in the client place I would be completing 1.6 years in the old company, and if I accept the offer in the client place then I would have to start again my career in the client place and just after completing another 6 months in the client place then I would be a branded QA and my chances of moving to a development job would be very bad. An I cant jump from one company to another just for chance of development and it would bring a bad name in my career. What should I do now? Any suggestions?

What about speaking to a job placement agency? A head hunter who can see if there are any jobs doing what you want to do at comparable or better pay than what you are earning right now. Failing that you should take the offer from your client if you want to keep earning a steady paycheck. If you are unhappy about the... More
