Back in what day ? what year ? Years back they had no chance for any advancement, and held menial jobs, like kitchen work, and jobs the white military personnel didn't want. In plain english, they were considered just short of a citizen.

Your premise is false. Blacks have always been willing members of every army organised in America.

They did want to participate but many werent allowed to join due to racism. Even if they did join, there were given low jobs like grunt or cook.

Which day? African Americans have fought in most of the wars since the Revolution. How they participated was determined by white people. Some didn't want them to have weapons, so they didn't fight, but they assisted in other ways. Some didn't want to fight for a country that enslaved them.

What do you mean, African Americans have been a part of our military since day one. The first man killed in the Boston Massacre was a black man.

it may be to do with the fact they were discriminated against because of their colour bit like the irish workers and the chinese railroad workers of the time . . These are the people who made America . You only need to look on your war memorials to see the vast amount of irishmen soldiers who died fighting for america... More
