are these interviews for real jobs?

My bf graduated college in may for finance. He redid his resume and posted it on career builder dot com. The next day when he checked his email he got four emails about places interested in him and who wanted to interview him. We live in columbus ohio. He called them had breif introduction conversations and set up interviews. He went to three of them so far and they have all showed interest and are wanting to hire him. that was yesterday or the day before. since then he has scheduled 4 more different interviews. Most of these are for insurance companys. Which tell him he will need to get a insurance licence which is a week class for like $300. which is just down the road from us. then $90 for the test. The interviews are like an hour or more long and seem real and it seems like they are investing alot of time for it to be a scam. some of the company's are physicians mutual, and american general life,
