What is the most interesting engineer field to get a degree in and work for?

I am a junior in high school and trying to figure out what field is right for me. I love finding how things work I wanted todo aerospace build the jets and all that but I have been hearing that it is a hard job to get into and you have to know someone to get in are there any other fields that will give me excitement I want to make really interesting things Thanks in advance

Aerospace is in a bit of a decline right now due to reduction in defense spending, especially on large projects like aircraft.
