Would you agree on a space program for the Philippines if we have the funds?

Taas ng kilay ng iba. Parang may magsasabing kaya ba natin? Well kinda new for a poor country like ours having a space program. The only countries in Southeast Asia that have their own space programs are Japan, obvious naman and China. China like Japan are sending satellites into orbit for their communication purposes. Hypothetically, we have the funds would you agree on having our own space program? Probably ask what is the use or purpose of the space program. To engaged in activities related to outer space and space exploration. One may even say, the Philippines cannot even clean their drainage system, organized their waste disposal or built a car in the Philippines. I got to be crazy and Filipinos are NOT technically inclined for such endeavors. Cool lang kayo nagtatanong lang naman. I just like to read the opinion of others who may find my question a little bit in their liking. We cannot please everybody I guess. So what do you think? I believe science and technology is the key to make the Philippines progressive, others will find the only solution for the problem(s) in the Philippines is to drop 2 nukes one between Luzon and the Visayas and the other in Mindanao those who survived will now work it out in running the government in the Philippines. Just like the concept of Fr. Bernas the former constitutionalist. Siguro tama sya noh! @ Ed- if sending satellites are not part of space programs then what is it? IT or information technology only? You should back up your diagnostic approach not just tell it is not part of it so what is it, you cannot even tell huh which is your left hand or your right hand because they are both called the hand? Imagine Sri Lanka have aeronautics and space agency( Immediate goal is to construct and launch two satellites. Sri Lankan Telecommunications Regulatory Commission has signed an agreement with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd to get relevant help and resources.) and yet Sri Lankans are also as poor as the Philippines. India and Pakistan I forgot have space programs too. But they are as poor as we are. So what is so special about these people that they can think while we are still sleeping. Ed you wanna come back? How can you launch a satellite into orbit if you will not place it inside a rocket? I do not think the satellite will fly by itself into space. That is why it is called space.

If we do have the funds, I don't think we should engage in a space program. First issue is land space: the Philippines is a small country and a lot of people are homeless. A space station, I expect, would need a huge land space; where do you expect to build that... More

A space program is about exploration. Sending satellites into space is not a space program. It is simply making use of new trechnology

I don't see why people don't start shooting their trash into space. If its causing all these problems down here on earth then we should just get rid of it. Anything else in space is a waste of time, mostly. I don't even like to think about all the money thew US has wasted on their space program. Nothing would be cooler... More

C we wouldn't be able to shoot tonnes of rubbish into space, the amount of rubbish that Philippines produces per day X the cost to send material into space (NASA estimation $10000 per pound), would probably exceed the Filipino Annual budget within a few days lol. And even if we did get it into space, it would just... More

Having funds alone is useless if a country does not have the technology and man power. Learn to crawl and walk before you run and fly. lmao

Before we look into space, let's look to Smokey Mountains and similar areas of the country. I personally think Space Programs equate to billions that could be used to build roads, bridges, schools, assistance to farmers, college tuition aid to poor and middle class families, etc., with much more immediate economic... No. Pakainin na muna nila yung mga nagugutom. Iresolba muna nila yung problema ng kahirapan at corruption. Tangena, pa-space space ka e andami pang problema sa lupa, naghanap pa sa langit.

As old proverb goes...."Don't try to walk before you can crawl" The Philippines as a nation cannot even get the crawling part right. Seriously.

even if we don't have the funds or technology, we can always borrow . but the question is, would it be feasible, meaning , the rate of return of the investment, could it be realized in some certain period of time? If it would make us economically better, it could have been programmed years ago.
