What are some automotive jobs with good pay?

I'm talking at least 50 to 60k a year. What kind of technician? And please be practical people and don't respond with racecar driver...

to be a high paid mechanic you need to get several ase certifications. Specialize in transmissions, drive trains, things with more special traning that wont land you at jiffy lube changin oil all day.

get a shop! even tune-ups & oil make more than that. what ever you know now can open a shop, even if it's lights & tires. they make over 60k in metro areas. if in the rural areas, with bad roads, wheel alighment & cv joints. like Cain said "if you're not rich it's your fault.

As long as you become a certified technician, your pay would raise greatly. One option would be being certified as a smog technician. The pay is about $20-25 an hour here in San Francisco. Other types of certifications should help you get that kind of pay as well... More
