How to apply for your first job in person?
I am going to go around to the shops in the small town I live in and try and get my first job (i'm 18) I have a resume and references but I'd like some tips. How do I walk into a shop and ask for a job? Do I ask to speak to the manager or what? please help! I am applying in person because they its small stores in a small town, not chain stores, they do not have websites or online applications.

Usually places need you to fill out an application. So you would go in and ask for one. Take it, fill it out and bring it back. Or ask if you can leave your resume. Ask if there is a good time to call the manager or whoever is doing the hiring. Be sure to get manager's name. Always use Mr, Mrs or Miss - whatever... More

Just speak to a member of staff and ask if there are any job openings. Most shops will just take your CV and tell you they'll contact you if they need any staff. Sometimes if you're lucky they might hire you on the spot, but that's a rarity!
