Why did Obama give jobs to lobbyists when he promised not to?

When running for president Obama said "Lobbyists will not find a job in my White House". The following former lobbyists are now employed in the Obama White House: Eric Holder, DoJ, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm. Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture, was registered to lobby on behalf of the National Education Association. William Lynn, deputy defense secretary, was registered to lobby for defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a top executive. William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary, was registered to lobby for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use. David Hayes, deputy interior secretary, was registered to lobby for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric. Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby for financial giant Goldman Sachs. Ron Klain, former chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone. Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff for policy, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003. Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights. Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group. Patrick Gaspard, was White House political affairs director until this year, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union. Michael Strautmanis, Counselor for strategic engagement to White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett , lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005. Why did Obama give so many jobs to lbbyists when he promised not to? Well, "pete" I don't have any sock accounts. Thanks for asking though.

No doubt for the same reason he made the statement that his adminstration would be transparent. He was looking for people to put him in the WH and the only way he could acheive is by lying. It seems his lies are still in full swing. Seems everytime he opens his mouth a falsehood erupts.

it should be obvious by now that the current president has no intentions of keeping any of his promises to the people

"...drug-maker..." The cons' political correctness is hilarious. When you like someone, they're a "pharmaceutical" that makes "medicine." When you don't, they're a "drug-maker."

Yes, politicians lie....does that make it okay to keep accepting lies as the status quo? No, it doesn't. Vote him out to let them ALL know it's not okay to lie to us. Voting out unsatisfactory incumbents is our voice, so use it!!!!

It is pretty simple, he told the lies he knew he would get him elected, it sounded good, end corruption in DC and many people fell for it, the other half that voted for him fell for a cute but meaningless little catch phrase, "hope and change" (and even today nearly three years latter they cannot tell you what it meant...
