What can we do to encourage or employ the retired military elderly on military bases or to help the schools?
The elderly retired military have a decent life expectancy and I think many would like to do more to help their communities. There seems little is being done to encourage this experienced and knowledgeable sector of our communities to get involved more. Often you see them just hanging around the commissaries or base exchanges talking about the old days. I feel they have become 3rd class citizens once they become elderly. Has anyone done a survey on this particular group of people?

Retired people can choose to participate in life, or they can do nothing. I see no reason why anybody should have to encourage them to do anything - its up to them. Military or civilian - there is no difference. Older people can do anything they like !
