Is my job offer legit or a scam? Are all work from home jobs scams or is this a growing trend?

I was offered administrative assistant job based in another state. I applied not knowing it was work from home. I did not have to pay and it does not come across as a scam. Is working from home a new legit job opportunity or are they all scams?

They're all scams. Most of them involve the "employer" sending you a check which you're then supposed to cash and send some/most of the money back to him. The check is fake. He gets away with all the money you send him, and your bank comes after you to make the whole check good.

It's a SCAM. Nobody hires an administrative assistant without a single face to face interview. Even if it were a legitimate work from home job, you would still ALWAYS have an interview with your employer in person. They would also have to issue you an I-9 and W-4 form before you could start - if they have not then it's... More
