I have a long life dream of becoming a pastry chef and owning a bakery of my own. Can I do it?

I've been majoring in Biology for a while but I've always wanted to become a pastry chef and make some beautiful desserts. However, I'm very amateur when it comes to baking, and I mostly follow recipes all the time. I'm trying to enter a culinary program but I'm scared that I'll just be a joke compared to other students.

As long as you are aware that after spending $25-30k for culinary school....you will come out qualified for a $9/hour job......go for it.

Challenge and conquer your fear, which right now holds you back from your heart's passions. If you truly love doing something---that passion WILL become the undying catalyst that WILL bring out the talent hidden inside; the drive to do it and find better ways of doing it.

Ryan M is absolutely right. You can spend all that money to be making 8 - 9 dollars an hour, which is nothing.
