How to turn on wireless adapter?

Hello everyone! I've been having trouble with my wireless adapter. Windows 7 tells me my hardware radio switch is OFF. I've been trying to turn it on using the physical switch on the side of the laptop. Also, I've been trying to use the fn+f5 combination that it's suppose to turn on the adapter's software switch. Nothing does the trick. What started the problem was when I started using backtrack 5. I didn't even enter any command disabling the adapter. Something tells me fn+f5 stopped working because I installed a different Windows 7 which is not the one that comes with my laptop. Is there any way I can activate the adapter through cmd? Any application that does the job?

For Windows 7 go to control panel, network and internet, you have your choice of Intel Wifi technologies or Intel proset wireless tools. You should be able to turn it on from there. 'Same thing happened to me'
