Why is it important for people to think one can be a Christian and also be a Scientist?

I don't think one has anything to do with the other. Just because one has a job does not mean one can't do stupid things in their off-time. Sort of like a marriage counselor who goes home at night and beats his wife.

Religion is in a fight against Science so it's important to paint a picture that they can both exist together to please the populace and Science can go on unheeded and unblocked by the religious.. but sadly religion keeps doing all it can to deny and block true progress .
