How can we truly educate our citizens?
There is a lot of talk about the importance of a college education when it is obvious not everyone is qualified or they get student loans they will never be able to pay back while partying instead of applying themselves to programs that will not really help them in life. Take a look at the WSO graduates crying about the inability to get a job. Maybe they just are not qualified or expect to be paid more than they are economically worth. Everyone has something to offer. They may have an appitude as a Over the Road driver, heavy equipment operator, great artistic talent, great home builders and construction workers, fixing cars, nursing, being EXCELLENT teachers .(not mediocre teachers who depend on Unions to secure their jobs) mechanics. Wouldn't it be better to have an educational system that first tests the aptitude and natural talents consistent with their interests instead of 'one system fits all'. Lower grades should definitely learn to speak proper English, speak properly and distinctly, math, spelling, writing which would be good in writing letters and resumes in applying for jobs. Starting Junior High the aptitude programs should begin. All children should learn about responsibility, integrity and the basics of a productive, loving family, whether not they may be living in one. Such things as these could turn this great back to his foundation.

Get people off their lazy asses and their face out of the idiot box and give them good books to read. I bet I read more books this year than most Americans will read in an entire life time.

The most important thing would be to make schools non union. The very worst situation is Tenure..... Seniority is NOT more important then the kids. I remember the meanest nastiest cows attempting to do a job... and that was decades ago. .

We need to begin with fundamentals of reading, writing and math. American History, Geography and Civics need to be an integral part of the curriculum. The focus on "college" for college sake has to change. There should be two distinctively different paths in High School, one for business and one for college prep... More
