Job Prospects in IT / Business Systems Analyst - Flooded market ?

I am considering studying a Bachelor's in Business Information Systems at Uni, aiming probabaly to be a Business Systems Analyst. According to the Aus Gov websites, the employment prospects over the next short to long term are very good, with a high level of vacancies in this field and good pay (1500/wk approx according to the job prospects site ). I was wondering however, is the IT market really flooded ? I have heard for years from multiple sources, including a family member who used to be in IT , that the market is flooded with qualified people. Is this true ? Or is it just specific sections? Would this degree be as beneficial as it looks ? Any information other than the Aus Gov job prospect website would be appreciated, particularly from people working within the field or having studied it. P.S I have a friend finishing up in that degree atm, and he is doing quite well and earning a handsome salary. I was just wondering if this was a rare case Thanks !
