How is the Navy Rate ABE Changing!?
I am shipping out in about 2 months and I was told by my recruiter that the ABE rate which is my job is changing. He told me the way the job is done which is the recovery and launch of jets is now updating technology so they are not using the catapult system and its going to be a new kind of lunching system that does not use the dangerous cables.Because of this he told me I wont need to handle these cables and all I will do is push a button and check systems downstairs? Is this True or only partly True! How exactly is the Job Changing

Any change that big to the steam cats would have to be retro-fitted in the yards. Not all Carriers can be sent to the yards at the same time (for obvious reasons). The first carrier (CVN-78) to have the new Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), instead of steam catapults and the Advanced Aircraft Recovery System (AARS); will not even commission until sometime late 2015 or into 2016.
