What would you do if someone dropped off religious pamphlets at your work place?
This just happened to me. I'm a receptionist here at a waste management company and I wasn't sure what to do. I know it's Christmas and some people that work here are quite religious but a lot of them are Mormons. My boss told me to put it in the garbage and now that I think about it, I think maybe I should've done that in the first place. I'm an athiest but I try to be sensitive to other's beliefs...but this is a place of work.

I'm an atheist and I would throw them away. However, I'd throw them away even if they were pamphlets promoting atheism. That kind of stuff is not what the people at your job are there for. It's not your job to help people propagate their beliefs, no matter what they are about; unless it's work related. If it were a... More

The workplace isn't an appropriate place for proselytizing or spreading religious propaganda. It was appropriate to dispose of that material.

I would treat it like any other pamphlet that happened to be dropped off. Throw it away. They can pass them out if they wish, but you aren't obligated to accept or read them. Just toss it next to the "Buy your office art from us!" flyer and the "Chinese happy fun lunch!" menu.

Did they try to force anyone to read them? I mean, if they just left them sitting on a table or something, you can either throw them out, or let people decide if they wnat to read them or not.

if there is an address and phone number on the pamphlets, i would call the religious agency and say that you are not welcome and the next contact will be by the police...........

Do what you want to do. No harm no foul. Of interest might be what motivates someone to share their messages, even when rejected. Might be fun to examine what is behind their motivation to share, ie whats in the brochure.

The fact that the employees are Mormon is irrelevant. You didn't say whether they were LDS pamphlets or not. It doesn't matter, it is still irrelevant what faith they belong to. The workplace is not the place for religious tracts. If the owner wants to put pamphlets on display for customers to look at in his own... More
