Do you think that women would give a guy like myself a chance?
So, I know that this is very hard to believe in this day and age, but I am around 30 years old and have never had a real gf before and here's why. Due to an abusive childhood, I lacked self-confidence/self-esteem and never began dating in high school. Also, due to a total lack of monetary and/or moral support from my parents, I had to join the Marine Corps after high school and did not get to take the direct path to college and be around tons of single young women like most guys get to do. Also, neither myself nor any of the other Marines that I worked with had any luck with the civilian women in eastern NC due to the anti-Marine mentality which is prevalent in that part of the state. Anyway, after the Marines I moved to co's second largest city for a job after the military and have since starlted attending the local satellite campus of the cu system. With that said, I do have self-confidence and do talk to women in my classes and am comfortable doing so. Every young woman who I talk to at school always tells me that they already have a bf which I find strange considering that this "town" has roughly half a million residents. Also, the "town" that I live in does have a considerable military presence which, in my opinion, explains why all of the military brats here are married no later than 22 or 23 and which also explains why all of the women that I attend college with only date guys that they went to junior high and high school with. So, I will most definitely be moving this coming summer and will be attending a normal flagship university in a college town back home which is totally free of the military presence. With that being said, I am scared that my total lack of sexual/dating experience will be a total turnoff to any potential date/g/f. My goal is not to simply get laid, but is to find a good woman who will accept me for who I am in order that I may be able settle down and get married someday. I am scared that I will be in my 70s or 80s and will die alone which I hope does not happen. So, in nutshell, have I missed the boat for beginning to date or finding a gf? Is there still hope for me?

Naw, but we aren't a different species you know. Women are just as screwed up and we all want the same kinds of things, so try to quit generalizing and assuming that every woman you meet is exactly like the last (you are missing opportunities here). Also, if you are 30, you aren't going to be so popular with the 21... More

I absolutely believe there is hope for you. I don't know a lot about the military elements you're describing. I'm only speaking as a man who is 41 but has found the love of his life. I'm happier than I've ever been, and FEEL much younger than I am. There is a woman out there who wants wants exactly what you have to... More
